In Brazil, I photographed Bahian moquecas brimming with seafood and dende oil, each bowl a reflection of Afro-Brazilian heritage. There’s something unparalleled about capturing the raw power of the ocean and the dedication of those who chase it. I’ve had the honor of photographing some of the most legendary figures in surfing, including Felipe Pomar, the world’s first Big Wave Surfing Champion. Pomar, who won the inaugural World Surfing Championship in 1965, is not only a pioneer of the sport but a true testament to longevity and passion—continuing to ride massive waves well into his 70s.

Being able to document surfing’s rich history and evolution through my lens is something I deeply cherish.
